# Create a deposit address

**Available to all roles (Roles determine what each user can see and do in the portal.) except**

This page describes how to create a [customer deposit address](https://docs.ca.cryptoprocessing.com/deposits.md#customer-deposit-addresses) via the portal. Such an address is intended to be shared with a customer manually, and deposits to it don't trigger API callbacks by default.

> **Step 1**
>
> In your portal, go to the **Balances** tab and select a cryptocurrency.

> **Step 2**
>
> Click **Receive** in the panel that opens.
>
> **Step 3**
>
> Click **Create new address**.
>
> **Step 4**
>
> Specify the required user data.
>
> See [User data collection](https://docs.ca.cryptoprocessing.com/user-data-collection.md) for details on what information may be required. If the deposit address is for internal use, select the **Internal address** checkbox instead.

> **Step 5**
>
> Enter a unique **Name** for the deposit address. We recommend describing the expected purpose of the transactions to this address, e.g., "Deposits from Chris Customer".

> **Step 6**
>
> Select the **Type** of the deposit address.
>
> * **Deposit** — an address for deposits without conversion,
> * **Deposit exchange** — an address for [deposits with conversion](https://docs.ca.cryptoprocessing.com/deposits.md#deposits-with-conversion).

>
> Enter your 2FA code and click **Confirm**.

> Click **Create address**.
